Same Distance, Longer Ride.

Today I drove to Cincinnati to work so I could meet a former coworker who I hadn't seen in years for lunch. The distance from home to Cincinnati and home to Miamisburg are about the same. However, it took 55 minutes to get to downtown Cincinnati, and it only takes 35 minutes to get to Miamisburg. Why does it take so long to go the same distance? Because there are different obstacles that get in the way like traffic, accidents and construction. Mainly there seems to be more people going south than north.
This made me think about our walk with the Lord. Why is it that sometimes we can breeze through times in our lives with seemingly no obstacles, trials or tribulations while other times we have roadblocks, distractions and the like? My guess is this represents the seasons of our lives. The Bible says in Romans 8:18, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Going through the traffic was not easy in the morning and leaving in the afternoon from Cincinnati. There was bumper to bumper standstill traffic. I was so grateful to get out of it and have no desire to go back to work in downtown Cincinnati. It was nothing compared to my daily and most peaceful drive to Miamisburg.
That's exactly how I feel about going through trials and tribulations. It makes us cherish and long for the days and seasons when things are going smoother. One preacher said, “How you going to go through your go through when you're going through your go through?” The answer should be to worship and praise the Lord through it all. Why? Because he said he would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrew 13:5) so we're not alone. Psalms 34:19 says, “Many other afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” So whether you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic or going through your go through, remember it's only a season and God will see you through. By the way, the Lord gave me this title while driving to downtown Cincinnati today. Won’t He do it?!🥰
